Belize

Social flycatcher caught while mist-netting
Emerald Toucanet
Coatimundi (Nasua narica) at the Belize Zoo
Greater grison (Galictis vittata) at the Belize Zoo
Stoplight parrotfish (Sparisoma viride) while snorkeling

These pictures were taken in Belize which is just south of Mexico and East of Guatemala. It's the smallest country in Central America. I went there this past summer for a two-week wildlife management field study. We stayed at La Milpa Field Station in the Rio Bravo Conservation Area for a week and then we went to South Water Caye for the second week. It was truly one of the most beautiful and untouched wildernesses I have ever seen.

What a wonderful place! These photos are fantastic and such interesting birds and animals. I wish that I had gotten to do neat stuff like this when I was a biology student.

Oh my gosh, those are gorgeous photos. That parrotfish looks like he is smiling at you. What a wonderful trip that must have been.
