Southern Illinois

Rafinesque's big-eared bat (Plecotus rafinesquii)
Southeastern bat (Myotis austroriparius)
Short-tailed shrew (Blarina carolinensis)
Leopard Frog (Rana sphenocephala)

These are all picture taken during my wildlife biology class field trip to Southern Illinois!

Bats are cute. I don't know so many people are afraid of them.

There are several bat projects in my urban neighbourhood trying to encourage them to nest in the trees and deal with the rodents in a green way. The shrew and the frog has assocations in another vein - they made me think of my favourite book: The wind in the willows!
